Application and customers requirements

Our customer deployed a secure extranet application based on the Oracle 9i Application Server Portal. This solution allowed its customers to place orders, track deliveries and view 3D product plans via an intranet access. Several remote sites experienced a significant plunge in performance and very slow response times when using the new secure application.

Solution

The BoostEdge web acceleration device was installed transparently in the network in front of the Oracle Application Service Portal to ensure consistent service quality to the company's customers.

Results

  • Response times for users were reduced by between 200 and 300%, depending on the bandwidth of the ADSL or leased lines.
  • Volumes of data transmitted over the network for this application have been halved, on average.

Case 2: iProcurement-based intranet (Oracle E-Business Suite)

Application and customer requirements

Our customer deployed the Oracle iProcurement application on its intranet. Internal buyers use the intranet to search for items (or services) and place orders. The company's strategic objective was to automate all stages of the purchasing cycle for almost 1,500 users and to reduce and control its operating costs.

Response times on the company's complex intranet network were very slow. A massive upgrade in network capacity was not an acceptable solution and was ruled out in view of the company's tight timescale.

Solution

The BoostEdge acceleration device was installed transparently in reverse proxy mode between the load balancing solution and the Oracle application server.

Results

  • Response times for users were reduced by between 200 and 300%.
  • Volumes of data transmitted over the application’s network were reduced by at least a factor of 4 (up to a factor of 22 for some requests).
