SSL

Enjoy HTTPS at the speed of HTTP

BoostEdge allows you to "SSL-ize" a server or application without any modification to either. BoostEdge becomes the SSL termination point. Where required, URLs are converted and port numbers are translated automatically on the fly.

BoostEdge can "SSL-ize" one or more servers simply by installing them non-intrusively in the live network in front of the servers to be secured.

Off-loading

BoostEdge supports SSL's inherent load calculation, which helps to increase overall performance, bringing you HTTP/S at the speed of HTTP.

Connection with the server

In general, the connection between BoostEdge and the server is unencrypted, since BoostEdge is responsible for encrypting the connection between the data center and the UA. However, for very sensitive data, it is possible to create an SSL connection between BoostEdge and the server.

Client certificate

BoostEdge can check client certificates. This ensures reliable authentication, in particular where chip cards are used. The information from the certificate is forwarded to the server, where it can be accessed by the applications.

It is then forwarded in the form of additional HTTP header fields that are compatible with various other devices or can be configured. In the case of an SSL connection between BoostEdge and the server, it is possible to recreate a customer certificate containing the same information. The only difference is that this certificate is signed by BoostEdge rather than the client certificate key.
