BoostEdge optimizes daily user workload with Ciblex's Cnet proprietary application
Description of the Business
BoostEdge optimizes daily user workload with Ciblex'ss Cnet proprietary
application. As soon as the tests were completed, this acceleration appliance
provided truly effective results. We installed BoostEdge on our hosted server
and were immediately pleased with the results obtained in production. All of
our Cnet users also expressed satisfaction with this application
explains Sylvie Rouquié, Technical and IT Director. Description of the
business Based in France, Ciblex specializes in express distribution and
maintenance in France and throughout Europe, and is positioned in clearly identified
sectors, such as the high-technology, medical, optical, automotive,
industrial-spare-parts and communications-related markets.
The many services offered by Ciblex include overnight and pre-8 a.m./-9 a.m./-10 a.m.
delivery, Monday through Saturday; same-day collection and delivery;
on site overnight repairs by technicians for maintenance operations
via standard exchange; and express delivery in Europe and internationally.
Each service provision comes with targeted feedback and uninterrupted
tracking for the duration of the service.
The problem
Cnet is Ciblex's core business application:
it centralizes all orders (collections and deliveries), distribution
and parcel tracking. Developed internally by Ciblex and in production for
the past six years, the Cnet application is hosted by SIGMA Informatique and
is accessed via VPN from 20 remote sites. Sylvie Rouquié, Technical and
IT Director, explains: "The users of this application " 500 employees,
including approximately 300 connected at all times " were unhappy, as the
application's response time was too slow and this had a negative
impact on users' day-to-day work. We needed to increase the bandwidth
in order to solve the problem. At the very least, this would have
required doubling the network's bandwidth in order to obtain average but
still-insufficient performance. Besides, this would have incurred prohibitive
operating costs".
Solving the problem
According to Sylvie Rouquié, "The implementation of an acceleration appliance captured our attention because this solution
met one of our principal requirements: deployment at a single location, with easy implementation that didnt demand modification
of the 20 remote sites. BoostEdge was selected through a series of comparative studies, available on the Internet. As soon as
the tests were completed, this appliance provided truly effective results and satisfied all users. We then installed the first
BoostEdge and were immediately pleased with the results obtained in production. Our Cnet users also expressed satisfaction
with this application, observing significant improvements in response time, especially for agencies with low bandwidth."
Sylvie Rouquié concluded: "We obtained a response time that was four times faster, while dataflow for the Cnet application
conveyed over the network was reduced by 4.5X on average. By increasing our networks capacity, we obtained an ROI within just
four months for the purchase of the BoostEdge appliance. Seeking to generalize this reduction of dataflow on our networks, we
installed a second ActivNetworks BoostEdge appliance for our second platform in order to compress the remaining intranet
dataflow (compression rate: 4.9) as well as Internet dataflow (currently underway)."
Key benefits
-
Response time is four times faster.
-
Cnet application dataflow conveyed over the network is reduced by 4.5X.
-
ROI realized within four months.
