Plug’n Boost: Connect, Power, Accelerate!
At the heart of BoostEdge sits “Plug’n Boost”: ActivNetworks’ patented interception platform. It enables BoostEdge to be installed seamlessly without any modification to the IP address plan, DNS, networks, applications or servers.
With “Plug’n Boost”, BoostEdge is connected inline using a failover Ethernet card and immediately accelerates all network traffic that travels through the platform. This is much faster and simpler than deploying as a proxy/reverse proxy. But if you really want to, BoostEdge can also be deployed in a proxy/reverse proxy mode.
Patented Interception Platform
“Plug’n Boost” is the hot install method that allows the BoostEdge to be deployed without interrupting application operations. Network traffic is cut briefly while the equipment is physically connected inline. After powering up BoostEdge, the interception rules determine which connections should be intercepted and processed.
Software updates can be applied without having to power down or disconnect the appliance. In the event of a power outage, BoostEdge behaves like a crossover cable to keep data flowing. All applications remain available as before without any manual intervention.
IP Transparency
IP Transparency is a unique technology at the core of the “Plug’n Boost” patent. It allows to dynamically reroute connections to the original destination without requiring any configuration. BoostEdge intercepts traffic, applies all acceleration and security rules that have been configured and pass it through transparently.
From an IP point of view, this is invisible and therefore impossible to detect. Not only this means all applications will run smoothly without having to be reconfigured, it also means hackers cannot bypass BoostEdge. Attacks will always be blocked by BoostEdge Web Application Firewall (WAF).
